DOUG DYKE
Doug Dyke (KP07) is currently a Junior on the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneer football team. After 4 games this season, Doug is the 2nd leading rusher with 290 yards and 3 touchdowns for the 2-2 Bucs. Doug started his collegiate career at Mass Maritime in the fall of 2007, gaining almost 700 yards with 6 touchdowns as a Freshman. Unforunately a serious leg injury derailed most of his Sophomore season, but he has quickly shown he his back to his old self with some tough hard-nosed running. In spite of some high-profile transfers at the running back position, Doug continues to get his carries and prove he is worthy of leading the Bucs this season. RYAN CONNOLLY
Starting in his first game last week, Bridgewater State (BSC) vs Coast Guard, Ryan Connolly, KP '08, showed the fans what he can do playing on kick-off & punt teams and contributing to several impressive tackles. Ryan joined the BSC defense in the fourth quarter making 2 solo tackles and gaining the respect of coach, Chuck Denune.
"It's hard not playing as much as he's use to, but Ryan's thrilled to be playing as a freshman and making plays! Nothing better than hearing his name over the PA again". Lori Connolly
MONAHAN BROTHERS
The Monahan boys faced off against each other on the gridiron last week (10/31) at Bridgewater State College's (BSC) homecoming game. They both started, with Matt playing WR for Bridgewater and Anthony as tight-end for Worcester State. Since switching to tight-end, Anthony has averaged one touchdown per game. Bridgewater defeated Worcester 40 - 7, but Anthony had an impressive catch in the first half that lead his younger brother to declare that “Anthony beat me and made the catch”. It was the first time the brothers have ever played against each other. Eileen Monahan says, "I'm not sure I can handle it if they ever do this again".
